I did a test swatch replacing certain points that I thought looked off, but it ended up looking flat and out of place in the context of the rest of the dithering. ![]() The small spots of bright color are primarily due to the limitations of dithering to replicate the color palette of the original picture of the tapestry in minecraft, along with a few tiny details that are not adequately represented in the resolution I ended up going with (384x512). Your second guess is correct! I used a utility made by /u/redstonehelper to map the color space to the stair-stepped minecraft color palette. (#spoiler) = neat!
